To provide better healthcare services to the construction workers, the Punjab Government has decided to cover them under health insurance of Punjab Sarv Sehat Beema Yojna (PSSBY). Beneficiaries registered with ‘ThePunjab Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board’ would get health benefit up to Rs.1.5 lakh per annum.In the press communiqué, Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat, Labour Minister, Punjab said that labourers, working under dangerous conditions, sometimes become victim of severe injuries, which further lead to several diseases sans proper treatment. 

Keeping these circumstances in mind, the state government has decided to provide better health facilities to construction workers, registered with ‘The Punjab Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board’ by widening the ambit of PSSBY of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation.pulging other details, the Minister said that under this scheme, beneficiaries or other family members could get the benefit up till Rs.1.5 lakh per annum for the indoor treatment like heart surgery, joint replacement, cataract, removal of uterus and appendix etc. besides outdoor treatment for some special diseases.The Labour Minister reiterated that the state government is committed to upgrade the living standard of labourers and to provide them better healthcare and education as well.
