The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Smriti Zubin Irani releasing the flash statistics for Elementary Education in India for the year 2013-14, in New Delhi on June 18, 2014. The Secretary (SE&L), R. Bhattacharya the Vice Chancellor of NUEPA, Prof. R. Govinda and the Additional Secretary (EE), Smt. Vrinda Sarup are also seen.

The Union Human Resource Development Minister today released the Flash Statistics: Elementary Education in India: Progress towards UEE for the year 2013-14. The Statistics are prepared annually by National University of Educational Planning & Administration (NEUPA). They were presented to the Minister by the Vice Chancellor of NEUPA, Prof. R. Govind in the presence of Secretary (SE&L) Shri R Bhattacharya, Additional Secretary (EE) Smt. Vrinda Sarup and other senior officials of the Ministry. The Statistics cover 1.45 million schools spread over 662 Districts across all States and UTs. 

The District Information System for Education (DISE) is a district based data base and gives information for school, block, district, State & national disaggregates. The Flash Statistics: 2013-14 also contain an Educational Development Index (EDI) based on four constituents of Access, Infrastructure, Teachers and Outcomes. The State ranking based on the EDI reveals that Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh & Karnataka are ranked in the first five. The DISE 2013-14 data can be accessed at website www.dise.in
