Rajnath Singh urges speedy implementation of projects

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday reviewed the centre-state pision of the home ministry and called for speedy implementation of the Crimes and Criminal Network Tracking and Systems (CCTNS) project and the Nirbhaya Fund project.Rajnath Singh said he would speak to chief ministers and the union territory administrators of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Lakshadweep, Manipur and Rajasthan where implementation of the CCTNS project was lagging, said a statement from the home ministry.The minister expressed concern over the delay in kicking off the Nirbhaya Fund project and stressed on its expeditious implementation.The Nirbhaya Fund project was launched by the Congress-led government in February 2014.

Under this project, any distress/emergency alarms generated by women by pressing a button through her mobile phones/devices will land at the police control rooms that would immediately arrange to dispatch emergency PCR vans to assist the inpidual in distress. The proposed system is to be implemented in 114 identified cities.Regarding the cyber crime project, Rajnath Singh said recorded incidents of cyber crime were generally negligible because of lack of awareness.He said law enforcement agencies "don't have enough capacities to handle serious incidents of cyber crimes".Rajnath Singh directed that an appropriate body working in the software industry be utilised for providing guidance and mentorship to police in states to enable them to develop their capacities to fight cyber crime.
