With a motive to develop SAS Nagar as a sports hub, the Govt. of Punjab has constructed a multipurpose sports stadium worth Rs. 66 lacs at SAS Nagar. Besides this, an international level hockey stadium has also been constructed so that the level of sports can be encouraged.  This was stated by Secretary Sports and Youth welfare Punjab Kahan Singh Pannu while he was inaugurating the swimming & badminton coaching centers at Sector 68 & sector 78 at SAS Nagar.

Pannu said that experienced coaches has been appointed in these coaching centers, so that the level of sports can be elevated & the new comers could be encouraged & they could get international level coaching. He appealed the general public to get benefit from these swimming & badminton coaching centers & get their Child's trained from the experienced coaches. Sh. Singh said that Punjab Govt. is very keen towards elevating the level of sports in the state and also attracting more players by constructing these stadiums. He said that entire youth clubs in the villages have been equipped with sports kits which will help in motivating the youth & also will help in removing drug addiction among the young generation. This all will help in creating better society.

During this, Director Sports Punjab Sh. Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal said that each type of modern facility has been provided in these coaching centres. District Sports Officer Sh. Manmohan Singh said that for these coaching centres, registration for 500 swimmers & Badminton players have been got done and children & youth are showing great interest towards these sports. During this, Assistant Director Sports, Sh. Ravinder Singh, Executive Engineer Sports Department Punjab Sh. Sanjay Mahajan, both coaches & other reputed persons were present.
