Maluka Issues Strict Instructions To Stop Ragging In Colleges & Universities

Education Minister Punjab, Sikandar Singh Maluka today issued strict instructions to all the government and Private Colleges and Universities to take adequate steps to in their respective institutions to stop ragging of freshers in their respective institutions. Mr. Maluka asked them to issue instructions to all the Higher Educational Institutions to follow the Supreme Court guidelines in this regard. He said that strict action would be taken against the institutions found violating the norms. All the colleges and Universities have been ordered to set up a help line for the ragging victims.He has also asked the authorities to take written undertaking from the students and their parents, not to take part in any kind of ragging activity. The Minister also said that the aggrieved students could lodge their complaint before the college authorities and appropriate action would be initiated accordingly.

The Minister said that the heads of educational institutions should immediately inform the police in case of any incident of ragging came in their notice. He also said that principal and staff must watch the attitude of new comers and any sign of depression noticed in new student should be probed deeply.
