West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said "loadshedding was now a forgotten term" in the state due to her government's efforts, whereas the situation in many parts of the country was the reverse."During the present scorching summer heat, many, many parts of the country continue to suffer long stretches of 'loadshedding'. But in Bengal, 'loadshedding' is now a forgotten term."Due to rapid improvement in efficiency of our state power sector, people of Bengal are now getting 24x7 power supply," she said on her official Facebook page.Following a storm May 30, which damaged transmission lines in Delhi, the national capital has seen erratic and long power cuts in sweltering heat. The power outages have spurred a series of protests even as the central government allocated more gas to a power plant to enable it to double its production. She said Bengal is capable of providing "power on demand"."We have introduced banking of power to suitably utilise the surplus power after our own requirements are fulfilled. We are committed to the people of Bengal and do our best for them," she said.
