Former Chief Minister and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the brutal attack on Congress workers in Majitha assembly segment on Monday following the seizure of illicit liquor from some prominent workers of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in village Bhangwan.In a statement issued here today Capt Amarinder asked the police to take strict action against the Akalis who attacked the Congress workers blaming them for the raid on their illegal liquor manufacturing.He disclosed that on a tip of the police seized about a thousand litters of illicit liquor from the house of Akali Sarpanch Dayal Singh and others in village Bhangwan. Later when it turned out that they were Akali workers the police let them off.Once released from the jail, he added, these Akali workers vented their anger on the Congress workers blaming them for the tip of to the police.Capt Amarinder pointed out, this only vindicated the Congress party’s stand that the Akalis were patronising and peddling the drugs and illegal liquor trade. “Not surprising that this is happening in the constituency of Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia”, he remarked.
