With still 18 months left in Assembly elections scheduled to be held in Jammu and Kashmir later next year, political parties in the state have already sounded the poll bugle. However, coalition partners National Conference (NC) and Congress both dismissed the reports saying that the election in the state would be held at its scheduled time in October-November 2014.

In the last two months opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been holding rallies across the Kashmir to woo the voters. Coalition partners National Conference and Congress too are not far and it seems they too are in election mood.

State Congress Presidetn Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz told KNS that elections will be held on time and coalition government will complete its full term. “Every political party wants to remain in active mode as election is always important for parties. To reach out to the people political parties have to hold public rallies but that doesn’t in any way indicate that there would be early elections,” he added.

Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Minister for Rural Development and Panchyati Raj Ali Mohammad Sagar said those who claim that early elections will be held are wasting their time.Without naming PDP, he said, “Right from 2009 they have been after the chair. From Shopian to Machil and other issues they tried to destabilise the government but failed. Elections will be held in due time which is October-November 2014,” Sagar told 5dariyanews.
