Governor visits Regional Horticulture Research and Training Station Mashobra

Governor Kalraj Mishra along with Lady Governor Satyavati Mishra today visited the Regional Horticulture Research and Training Station at Craignano (Mashobra) at Shimla and held discussions with scientists on research work. On this occasion, the Governor said that this station was an important institution of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, where research work was being done on various varieties of apples, which was praiseworthy. He advised the scientists to work on the development of high yield apple varieties of apple in this institute.Kalraj Mishra also visited the display apple orchard set up in the station and praised the authorities for the good apple crop in this orchard. He also inspected the laboratories and appreciated the officers and staff of the institute for the proper maintenance of the institute.

The Governor also planted sapling of a very rare plant Ginkgo on the premises of the Station. He emphasised on the use of organic farming and development of eco-friendly varieties of Apple.Director Research Dr. J.N. Sharma and Station's Associate Director Dr. Pankaj Gupta welcomed the Governor and briefed him about various activities and research works being carried out by the centre. Various varieties of flowers produced in the station were also shown to the Governor.Earlier, the Governor also visited State Agriculture Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) at Mashobra. "This institute is doing well in terms of developmental programs in rural areas and qualitative training up to rural level for agricultural extension. I hope that the institute will help in strengthening the rural economy", said the Governor.He said that the institute was associated in developmental programmes of rural areas for last many years and continues to spread knowledge and experience through trainings in agriculture management and extension services.
