In a first-of-its-kind initiative to promote the girl child, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Moga Sandeep Hans on Monday, released a documentary film featuring three successful women of the district under the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” flagship scheme.Deputy Commissioner accompanied by additional deputy commissioner (ADC general) Anita Darshi and ADC development Rajinder Batra while releasing the documentary film at District Administration Complex (DAC) here said that this is another initiative by the district administration aimed towards empowering the women.The 90-second documentary film features Moga girl Ritika Jindal, who at the age of 22 cracked the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination by securing 88th rank, while another 17-years-old girl Sukhmandeep Kaur from Charik village of Moga is a gold medalist in Basketball besides remaining a Captain of National Basketball Team for two times.

The documentary also features Vipanpreet Mallhi, 15, who was among two Indians to participate in Red Cross International Youth Exchange Programme held in Tokyo, Japan besides participating in Annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp in New Delhi.Advocating the need for empowering women, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that empowered women could be the most productive asset for the country. He said that women were already proving their mettle in varied fields but the need of the hour was to give them more opportunities so that they could further excel in life.Deputy Commissioner also directed Cinema Operators in the district to play this documentary film before commencing of any movie so that message to empower and educate the women could disseminate among the masses.On the occasion, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) including Gurwinder Singh Johal (Moga), Narinder Singh Dhaliwal (Dharamkot), Dr Mandeep Kaur (Nihal Singh Wala) and Swaranjit Kaur (Baghapurana) besides other officials and women staff were present.
