Capacity Building Training Programme organised by Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights

Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights organised a Capacity Building Program for Station House Officers (SHOs), Chandigarh Police and Juvenile/ Child Welfare Officers as designated under JJ Act and other stakeholders such as officials of Helpline 181, Childline 1098, Child Care Institutions of Chandigarh at U.T. Guest House, Sector 6, Chandigarh. The training program was attended by 48 Police Personnels from all Police Stations across Chandigarh. On the occasion Dr. K.P. Singh, IPS, Director General, State Vigilance Bueuru, Haryana was the Guest Speaker.While addressing the participants , Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR said, “We all need to build a sense of empathy amongst ourselves ; to view every child whether child in conflict with law or children in need of care and protection as our own and deal with issues like a parent and give requisite support to the child”.    

She also pointed out that “Chandigarh has the capacity and capability to become Child Friendly City ; it is a our duty to make it one like we as we dream of “.In his address, Dr. K.P. Singh, IPS, Director General, State Vigilance Bueuru, Haryana highlighted the important provisions of the JJ Act and POCSO Act. He also enhanced the participants learning through real-life examples. He said,” JJ Act is intended for the benefit of children and is intended to protect and foster their rights also”.The Closing Remarks was given by Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson CCPCR said that the role of Police is at the forefront to ensure a quick justice along with rehabilitation of the Child. We all should collaboratively and collectively work towards making Chandigarh a child-beggar-free city. All the officials from the Police who attended the program assured the commission that they will make their best efforts to make Chandigarh a child-beggar-free city. Ms. Harjinder Kaur and Dr. Monica M Singh also assured them to provide any assistance required in this noble cause under the provisions of CCPCR.
