Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked all the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to finalize the blueprint of their Poll Day Management Plan, so that the democratic exercise was completed in a smooth and hassle free manner.Presiding over a meeting with the Assistant Returning Officers here at his office, the Deputy Commissioner said that Poll Day Management Plan was the most important exercise to ensure free, fair and transparent polls in the district. He said that foolproof blueprint was the need of the hour to ensure that this gigantic exercise was completed efficaciously. Mr. Sharma asked the AROs to roll up their sleeves for ensuring that the elections were conducted smoothly.The Deputy Commissioner asked the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to ensure basic facilities along with infrastructure at all the 1863 polling stations. He said that the special arrangements should be made for electricity and water in the polling booths to facilitate the voters. 

Likewise, Mr. Sharma said that the fans and lights in the polling booths must be in working condition and provision of back up of power must be made so that voters do not face any inconvenience due to power break up on polling day. The Deputy Commissioner said that all the arrangements must be made well in advance so that polling parties and voters do not face any trouble. He said that adequate provision of furniture and potable drinking water must also be ensured at the polling booths. Mr. Sharma asked all the AROs to personally visit the polling stations and monitor all these arrangements. He also said special provisions of wheelchairs, ramps, helpers and others should also be ensured at all the 1863 booths during the polling day on May 19  for the PWD voters.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Kulwant Singh and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramveer Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma and Ms. Charumita, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Aashika Jain, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Dr. Nayan Jassal and others.
