Congress Candidate Chaudhary Santokh Singh, who would file his nomination papers on Monday (April 22) in the presence of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, today kicked off his political campaign in the Jalandhar (West) Assembly segment.Posing a united face of Congress in the constituency, MLA Rinku welcomed Chaudhary in his area and lauded the development works done by him in Jalandhar parliamentary constituency through his MP Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD) during the last five years. The gathering, comprising almost all Municipal Councillors of the area, led by MLA Rinku, assured Chaudhary of massive win with double the lead margin as compared to 2014, when he (Chaudhary) got the lead of about 22000 votes from Jalandhar (West) assembly constituency.Prominent among others apart from Municipal Councillors, include Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Singh Bunty and Senior Congress leader Surinder Chaudhary. While addressing the meeting, Chaudhary said that Modi Government has proved big failure on all issues be it –unemployment, agriculture crises or industrial growth.Gathering, which was outnumbered with the people of the business community apprised the visiting MP about their woes which they faced due to the anti-industry policies of Modi Government, especially due to the demonetization and implementation of half baked Goods & Service Tax (GST).

Chaudhary assured that if voted to power (which is quite sure), Congress is committed to simplify the GST with only one slab.He said that although, Jalandhar is famous for its sports industry, but in recent years, the industry, which was settled here in the city from Sialkot (now in Pakistan), after partition, was ruined by the Modi government by neglecting it. “Time is ripe to take revenge from Modi Sarkar for ruining the business by the implementation of demonetization and Gabbar Singh Tax (GST), due to which businesses could not come out of the financial crisis till now”, sitting MP Chaudhary said.Chaudhary said Rahul Gandhi has already promised that new ventures will not require any regulatory permissions for three years and will get easy access to bank credit if his party is voted to power, to revive the ruined industrial growth of the country. Even Congress would remove the existing 'angel tax, which is imposed at the rate of 30 percent on start-ups, MP revealed assuring that incentives and tax credits to entrepreneurs based on their ability to create jobs, would be given to generate more job opportunities for youth.Promotion of indigenous industry would be a key priority for the Congress and the party would ensure that all new businesses are freed from the clutches of red tape to give a boost to the economy, he said."For the first three years of setting up a new business, we are going to free you up from red tape. You will not need to ask for permission for anything if Congress is voted to power" Chaudhary vowed.
