The District Administration, Kapurthala has got special t-shirts made for the “Kapurthala Run for Vote – Mini Marathon, 2019” scheduled for this coming Sunday, March 31. Unveiling the t-shirts today, Mr. DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, accompanied by ADC (General), AC (General) and all SDMs of the district, the DC informed that special arrangements have been made for this sporting event, which has met with encouraging response from the Kapurthala residents and almost 2,000 filled-in registration forms have been received from the public.He said the 5km run will start from Guru Nanak Stadium, Kapurthala at 6am on Sunday, which will pass through the major landmarks of the city namely DC Chowk, Sainik School, PWD Rest House, Shaheed SP Baljit Singh Chowk, Govt College, State Gurdwara, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Sat Narayan Chowk, Kanjli Road before finally terminating at the stadium. He said complimentary t-shirts will be given to the participants along with participation certificates.While talking to this newspaper correspondent, the DC informed that this mini-marathon is being held with the dual motive of encouraging people to adopt a healthy way of life, and to ensure that they come out and vote on 19th May, the day when Punjab is going to poll during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said several veteran athletes including award winner, various universities, colleges, schools and big organizations have committed their participation in this event.
