Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today visited
Government Ayurvedic College-cum-Hospital and General Nursing & Midwifery
School Akhnoor to take stock of their physical status.Principal Secretary
Health & Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, Principal GMC, Dr Sunanda Raina,
Director ISM, Dr. Phuntsog Angchuk, MD J&K Housing Board, Tasaduq Jeelani
and various other administrative officers were present on the occasion.The
Advisor was informed that the project is being executed at an estimated cost of
Rs. 2994.41 lakh, covering an area of 4245.07 sq meters and will have 60 class
rooms, museum, emergency block, OPD block, Anesthesia, Fracture clinic,
Kayachikitsa, Parsooti evum striroga, Shalya ward and various lab sections.He
was informed that levelling of ground, internal road works and sump tank have
been completed and electrification and compound wall works are under
progress.The Advisor visited various sections of the hospital including
Laboratory, Academic section, committee hall and establishment section and directed
for speeding up the work process without crossing set deadlines.He also
interacted with students pursuing medical studies. He enquired about the issues
they are facing, if any, suggestions for further up-grading the facilities. He
wished the students all the best for their future and assured that the issues
raised by them would be taken care of.Addressing the doctors, faculty and
hospital administration, the Advisor said that there is need to make this
health facility more vibrant and patient friendly for which all possible steps
need to be taken in a coordinated manner.He said that government would provide
all kind of support where ever is required for developing the Government
Ayurvedic Hospital.Later, the Advisor also inspected General Nursing & Midwifery
School Akhnoor and took stock of construction works and directed the concerned
for taking measures to making it functional.
