Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Lt Gen (Retd) TS Shergill today said that very soon, Guardians of Governance (GOG’s) would be appointed in all villages of the state. He said that at present, around 4000 GOG’s have been working in the state and 1500 more would be appointed soon, and thereafter further more GOG’s will be appointed. He said soon, all villages would have GOG’s.He said this while interacting with the GOG’s during a function held at Guru Nanak Bhawan, here today.Lt Gen TS Shergill said that the GOGs are the eyes are ears of the Punjab government, and via the concerned Deputy Commissioners, continuously send feedback about government schemes and other issues to the GOG headquarter in Chandigarh. He said that it was due to the hard work and dedicated efforts of the GOGs that the Punjab government has come to know about several issues that need to be redressed.He said that the GOGs were asked to report about the demands of residents of each village of state. He said that this report was compiled by the GOGs with dedication and that is why, now, the state government knows about the demands of each village. He said that the work on fulfilling those demands is in process and has been possible only due to the hard work of GOGs.

Lt Gen TS Shergill also said that the GOGs have also helped the state government in framing a policy to tackle the drug menace as they have provided with ground level feedback. He informed that he would be visiting each and every district of the state where he would be interacting one to one with the GOGs.Till date, Lt Gen Shergill has visited districts namely Ropar, Patiala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Mansa, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Barnala and Sangrur, while today, he would also be visiting Moga and Ferozepur. The remaining districts would be covered next week.He urged the GOGs to work wholeheartedly and with dedication so that all welfare schemes of the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government are implemented in the true spirit and urged them to inform the head office in case they want to provide any feedback.Prominent among those present on the occasion included OSD to Lt Gen TS Shergill Mr Karan Veer Singh, District Head GOGs Col (Retd) HS Kahlon, Brig (Retd) Inder Mohan Singh, Col (Retd) MS Gurm, Major (Retd) BS Gill, Col (Retd) Surjit Singh, Major (Retd) Charan Singh, Wg Cdr (Retd) MS Randhawa, Major (Retd) Bhamb, besides several others.Prior to his meeting with the GOGs, the Senior Advisor to CM Punjab also held a meeting with the senior District Administration officials at Circuit House, here today, which was attended by ADC (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, all SDMs and other senior officials of the District Administration Ludhiana.
