DC Bandipora reviews status of languishing projects

‘Languishing Projects worth Rs 48.86 Cr approved for funding through JKIDFC’

To complete the languishing developmental projects in Bandipora district, the government has so far approved about 32 projects for funding through the Jammu & Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) Limited.This was given out in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened to review the status of languishing projects in the district. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed Karnai, heads of various department besides other senior officers of the district.The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 48.86 crore have been sanctioned in aggregate for 32 languishing projects so far which include an amount of Rs 3.43 crore for early completion of District Hospital Bandipora, 1.63 Cr each for NTPHC Watlab, Saderkoot Bala and Quil Muqam.11 pending Water Supply Schemes and 14 projects of Roads and Buildings Department have also been approved for languishing projects which include the construction of various bridges and roads in the district.Dr Choudhary said the district administration has flagged about 100 more languishing projects of the district and they are expecting to get funding for these projects for early completion. He said a demand of Rs 485.23 crore in aggregate have been raised for completion of these projects as most of these projects are of public importance including related to scarcity of drinking water, construction of filtration plants, road connectivity, Health and Education facilities in the district. 

He said these projects are long overdue and that after approval for funding, it will be ensured that all of them are completed in the shortest possible time.DC Bandipora said that under R&B sector, the department has flagged 45 languishing projects of Bandipora including construction of Nusoo to Watpora bypass road, Development of New Bus stand at Nusoo, construction of 24 residential quarters for government officials, up-gradation of lanes and drains in Bandipora town, up-gradation of various link roads, construction of Indoor Sports Complex and DIET at Bandipora. He said that an amount of Rs 169.87 crore is required to complete these projects in Bandipora, Rs 77.50 Cr projects under R&B division Gurez and Rs 59 crore under R&B division Sumbal.The district administration has also raised demand for adequate funds for the completion of ongoing and languishing projects in the district including in Health sector to improve healthcare system that include establishment of modular operation theatre , STP, CW and HVAC system for new District Hospital complex Bandipora and completion of PHC Chittay-banday while in Power Sector the administration intends to improve the power distribution system in the district by augmentation grid stations  and improvement of HT/LT lines  besides completion of 15 more water supply schemes in the district.
