The Congress today sought an inquiry and action against the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Vice Chancellor of the Guru Nanak Dev University for violation of the model code of conduct for elections by holding election related meetings within the campus in the Guest House of the university.

Senior party leader and former Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Bir Devinder Singh today disclosed that the Chief Minister Badal had stayed in the GNDU Guest House and held meeting with different sections of people including the senior officials of the university soliciting their support for the BJP candidate Arun Jaitley.Bir Devinder pointed out, this was clear violation of the model code of conduct as no government premises can be used for the political purposes. He wanted the Election Commission of India to take serious note of this violation and question the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Returning Officer, for not reporting the matter to the ECI.
