DC Jammu inspects progress of Jammu-Akhnoor road project

Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today inspected the progress being made on Jammu-Akhnoor 4-laning project. He also inspected the pace of work at various construction sites.Deputy Commissioner directed the Revenue authorities for early disbursement of compensation for land and structures without any further delays. He also directed the concerned agencies to speed up the progress in establishment of utility corridor for shifting of water and electricity pipelines and cutting of trees along the stretch of highway.The DC said that the Part of NH-144A, the Jammu-Akhnoor road is a vital defense road and among the busiest roads of the state, which connects Rajouri and Poonch to the rest of the country. Considering the importance of this mega project, he directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to remove the bottlenecks and ensure proper fund management. Several issues impacting project execution were also resolved on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner stressed upon NHIDCL that has been entrusted with the task of executing the project on the Jammu to Akhnoor section, to expedite the construction works on topmost priority.He further directed the Traffic police to ensure proper traffic management during the execution of the project and to ensure smooth traffic flow especially in view of Darbar Move.Pertinently, the Jammu-Akhnoor-Rajouri-Poonch road was declared NH-144-A and approved under the Prime Minister Development Package for Rs 5,100 crore in November 2015.The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kanta Devi, SSP Traffic Jammu, Joginder Singh, General Manager NHIDCL, M G Vijay Kumar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North, Satish Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu, Nisar Ahmad Shad, and Superintendent Engineer PDD Karam Chand besides senior functionaries of other departments.
