CGC Landran organizes annual entrepreneurship event ‘B-Starters’

The annual B-Starters event was organized by CGC Landran’s Business School of Administration in association with Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Center (IEDC)-CEC. B-Starters provided a platform to enterprising students for showcasing their entrepreneurial skills by pitching ideas of their start-up ventures. The two day event saw participation of 100+ students divided in 32 teams. Judged by an eminent panel comprising corporate leaders and angel investors, five most innovative business concepts presented by participants, were adjudged winners of B-Starters based on their business idea-pitching and presentation. They were felicitated with assistance of Rupees One Lakh each, from IEDC-CEC to develop their ideas further apart from certificates and trophies. Based on business idea presentation by these students on day one, its social impact and financial viability, a total of fifteen ideas were shortlisted from the total 32, on day two of B-Starters to compete in the finale.The winning ideas were adjudged on parameters including the economic and social viability, cost effectiveness and ease of implementation. 

The five winning ideas comprised–‘Farmer Relief System’ a project aimed at helping farmers prevent overuse of water for irrigation, safeguard storage from burglary and protection from cattle invasion, ‘Agiator’ a start-up aiming to design efficient, powerful and cost effective Triple Environment Surveillance and Rescue robots, ‘Autonomous Plant Maintainer’ an eco-friendly device operating on IoT Augmentation which would help manage large scale plantations with minimal human intervention, ‘Fuel Adulteration Detector’ a project aimed at real time detection fuel (petrol/diesel) adulteration and a system developed to aid easy ‘opening of a refrigerator door’ aimed at specifically helping people with movement-related medical condition(s) and the elderly as well.Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran appreciated the efforts made by the faculty and students in organizing the event and making it a success. They said that events such as these helped nurture the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students helping them realize their true potential .They encouraged budding entrepreneurs to think out of the box, be passionate about their ideas, and have the commitment and zeal to give their hundred percent in order to become successful business leaders and contribute towards economic development of the country.
