Governor directs scientists for intensive research on natural farming

Governor Acharya Devvrat while presiding over the 15th meeting of the Senate of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni today gave directions to the scientists to research intensively on natural farming.He said the scientists should realise the ill effects of chemical farming and contribute in Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF). He urged to initiate research in this direction, while cooperating with the natural farming mission of state government. He said that the Director General of Indian Council of Research has assured that the projects related to ZBNF would be approved. Council has also assured research work on natural farming on their end, he added.The Governor said that development of agriculture sector was not possible without the help of scientists. While adopting natural farming, the scientists would have to do more work and research on preparing Indian seeds, analyzing organic carbon and researching friend organisms or beneficial insects, said Acharya Devvrat.

He said that we have seen the results of chemical and organic farming. Now, we have option of natural farming, which was practical and best results have been achieved out of it. He said that agriculture scientists have proved that natural farming was the best by providing research data. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in this direction in the university during last one year and directed to make more efforts in this direction.MLA Suresh Kumar Kashyap also gave his valuable suggestions.Vice Chancellor Dr. H.C. Sharma briefed Governor about progress in natural farming and other activities of the University.Registrar of University Rajesh Maria conducted the proceedings of meeting.Official and non-official members were present on the occasion.Earlier, the Governor visited the zero budget natural farming model farm (demonstration farm) set up at university campus and interacted with farmers from Kullu district getting training on natural farming.  He also inaugurated ZBNF model on fruit plants.
