Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today reviewed the arrangements for upcoming Global kabaddi league scheduled to be held in the district under ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ from October 14 to 21.Presiding over to meeting review the arrangements for the event, being organized by the state government with support of NRIs, slated to take place in local Surjit Hockey stadium, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that elaborate arrangements would be made for making this grand event a huge success. They said that tournament was being organized by the state government to give push to the traditional game of the state. The officers said that the state government has been making all out efforts for promoting sports across the state to channelize the unbounded energy of youth in a positive manner.The officers said that the event would prove to be a milestone for transforming the mother game of Punjab- kabaddi from a rural sport to a global event. 

The officers directed the officers of the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar to ensure proper cleanliness in and around the stadium. They said that special teams must be deputed round the clock during the event for this purpose.Likewise, they said that adequate security arrangements would be made during the event. Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that special medical teams would also be deployed during the event to be held in the district for seven days. They said that ambulances would be stationed permanently during the event to provide immediate medical care, if required, to the players.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Ludhiana) Mr. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Rajiv Verma, Revenue Officer Mr. Gurpreet Singh and others.On the occasion Joint Organizing Secretary of Surjit Hockey Mr. Surinder Singh Bhapa, NRIs Mr. Ranbir Singh Tut and Mr. Surjeet Singh Tut, Mr. Varinder Singh Kular and others were also present.
