“Come hard on drug peddlers, snap the drugs supply chain and crack a whip on criminals”, this was stated by Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh, IPS in his darbars  with Police personnel during his visit to Udhampur and Reasi. The DGP also chaired review  meetings, which were attended by officers of Army, CRPF and CISF. Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal, IPS, IGP Jammu received the DGP at Udhampur and Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, DIG JSK & UR range  received the DGP at Reasi.During his interaction with officers, jawans the DGP said that it was his target to visit all districts of State and assess the situation first hand within shortest possible time. He said that the voyage of J&K Police has been exemplary as we have come a long way after facing multiple challenges. He said that Udhampur and Reasi are free of militancy because of collective efforts of all forces and the cooperation of general public. He said that all officers have been directed to eliminate the residual militancy as quick as possible.Dilbag Singh said that Pakistan wants to keep the pot boiling and is continuously fomenting trouble in the State. “We have to foil its designs and should not allow it to succeed for which you have to be pro-active”, he added. Discussing traffic management on National Highway DGP impressed for utilization of CCTVs and augmentation of manpower. He said that efficiency of the manpower should be increased by enhancing the mobility of manpower on the National Highway.Referring to Kakriyal encounter the DGP said that all officers responded from all sides and eliminated all terrorists within a short time despite hostile weather and terrain. He said that courage of the forces needs to be saluted. He complimented the forces who participated in the encounter and said that such successful operations have been hailed at National level.

Highlighting the sacrifices of J&K Police and the welfare measures undertaken, DGP said that the force has earned a name for itself in the country after great sacrifices. He thanked Central and State Government for announcing various welfare measures for the welfare of its personnel and their families. Ex-gratia to families of NOKs of martyrs and remuneration of SPOs has been increased and we will continue to strive for more.  He directed that Dy.SP DARs should visit the families of martyrs and know their welfare.Welcoming the recent decision of State Government regarding rank promotion, DGP said that it will open promotional avenues at cutting edge level in the Non-Gazetted cadre of J&K Police. He said that subordinate offices have been instructed to complete DPCs proceedings in a time bound manner. The DGP said that some more announcements are expected shortly from the Government.DGP impressed upon the personnel to be prepared for upcoming Urban Local Body and Panchayat elections. He also directed the officers to work against drug menace which is a lurking threat and act tough against peddlers. 

Asking them to keep thrust on investigation and increase in conviction rate, DGP impressed upon the police personnel to be polite with complainants and hard on anti-social elements and criminals.DGP said that guest houses will be constructed in District Police Lines for NGOs and hostel accommodation will be provided to the wards of police personnel in Jammu and Srinagar who are preparing for competitive exams.During his visit DGP inaugurated the renovated quarter guard at DPL Udhampur. He took salute on quarter guard inspected it.At Udhampur the review  meeting was attended by Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal, IPS, IGP Jammu Zone, SSP Udhampur Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS and other jurisdictional police officers.At Reasi the review meeting was attended by Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu Zone, Shri Arvind Bhatia Major General GOC Uniform Force, Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS DIG, Shri Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Ms. Nisha Nathyal, SSP Reasi, Commandant IR 1st Bn. Reasi, Shri Parshotam Sharma, Principal STC Talwara Shri Anil Kumar Katoch officers of CISF and CRPF and jourisdictional Police officers.Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS DIG, Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, SSP Udhampur and Ms. Nisha Nathyal, SSP Reasi assured the DGP that his directions will be followed in letter and spirit.
