Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran hosted Jashan 2K18, its Freshers’ party welcoming the new batch of students in campus. The event saw enthusiastic participation from freshers, senior students, faculty and management of the institution. The Miss and Mr Fresher 2018 contest was the highlight of Jashan 2K18. Aarisha Sharma, HMCT, CGC Landran and Sanjeev Kumar, B.Ed, CGC Landran were adjudged winners of the Miss (Ms) and Mr Fresher 2K18, competition. The competition consisted of three rounds comprising ramp walk and self-introduction by contestants, a quiz round and the final Question and Answer round. Winners were selected on basis of their confidence, presentation and intellectual skills. Vansh, CSE, CGC Landran and Santan Saugat, CSE, CGC Landran won the ‘Mr Best Dressed’ and ‘Ms Best Dressed’ competition, respectively.  They were felicitated by Ms Prineet Sohal, Principal, Shemrock School, Mohali, honourable Chief Guest at the event.

The event kicked off with an energetic performance by CGC’s music band Riwayat. This was followed by dance performances in Classical, Western and Bollywood (Mash-up) genres in addition to an interesting skit and solo song performances. The programme saw an eclectic mix of performances in music, singing, dance and mime acts, presented by senior students and freshers.A livewire Bhangra performance made the event even more joyous.  Post the announcement of the winners of Ms and Mr Freshers’ contest the house was opened to the eagerly awaited DJ party which saw students dance away to their heart’s content.Extending a warm reception to the new batch, Satnam Singh Sandhu and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal welcomed fresh entrants and emphasised on the significance of such events which serve as a great way of creating lasting bonds between students. They encouraged them to aim high, stay focused and do well in their respective courses for a successful career and future.
