Residents of Seelu village hit streets to protest against PHE in Sopore

A large number of residents of Seelu village in northern Sopore area including women on Saturday hit the road and blocked Sopore-Kupwara highway and shouted slogans against PHE department for failing to provide them regular water supply.Scores of people particularly women took to Sopore-Kupwara highway and blocked traffic for their demands.The protesters shouted slogans against PHE department. Alleging PHE department of ignoring their plights, the protestors said that “we approached to the concerned authorities for this genuine issue but no improvement has been witnessed.”They said, "Our area remain without water for the last one week but the authorities concerned are clueless to address the issue ".adding that they are forced to drink the unhygienic water of streams. They said though the matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned administration but nothing has been done to resolve the problem. They appealed the concerned authorities to look into the matter. (PTK)
