As a part of its ongoing drive against vector borne diseases in the city under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’, a joint team of health department and Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) today spotted 25 dengue larva cases in various localities of the city.Teams of anti-larva cell led by Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Mr. Kamaldeep Singh, Mr. Naresh Kumar, Mr. Manjit Singh, Mr. Sanjiv Kumar, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, Mr. Balwinder Saini and others carried the inspection in Gautam Nagar Basti Bawa Khel, New Bashirpura, Beant Nagar, Satkartar Dera, Gurdev Nagar and Jhansi Colony (Bashirpura) localities of city. During the checking the teams visited 452 houses and checked 123 air coolers, 133 waste containers and 14 abundant lying tyres. The team detected five cases of larva at Gautam Nagar, seven at New Bashirpura, six at Beant Nagar, five at Gurdev Nagar and two at Jhansi Nagar. The team sprayed medicine in 165 rooms and distributed 8000 tablets of chlorine in these localities.The team also interacted with the local residents and asked them to refrain from storing water in containers and air coolers as it could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes that were the carriers of diseases like dengue, malaria and others. The team also informed the people about the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ that was aimed at ensuring overall wellness of the people of the district.
