Following the directions issued by State Food Safety Commissioner Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu, a team of Food Safety Wing of the health department led By District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Balwinder Singh and Food Safety Officer (FSO) Mrs Rashu Mahajan held a meeting with railway station superintendent, chief parcel officer, railway health inspector, SHO GRP and asked them for keeping close watch of trains carrying any perishable food items or milk , milk products and sweets being arrived and unloaded at Jalandhar city and Cantonment railway station.DHO Dr Balwinder Singh said that in the meeting, railways officials assured that they will inform Civil Food Safety team about such consignment and would hand over to the receivers only after sampling is done by civil team.He added that following the meeting, five samples including two milk, two cheese samples and one curd from the surrounding areas of the railway station.He informed that under the mission Tandarust Punjab, the state government has started this drive and would help the people in ensuring the safe food to them.
