Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today chaired a meeting to review the action plan chalked out by the Special Task Force constituted to oversee the youth engagement program launched by various departments.Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam were also present in the meeting.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan gave a brief presentation about the action taken report of Divisional Level Task Force and the inputs received from the districts of Kashmir division regarding availability of infrastructure in the districts.He also informed that the directions were given to all the Deputy Commissioners to constitute District Level Task Force involving officers from District Youth Services & Sports, Education, Sports Council, Rural Development Department and other concerned.It was informed that the District Level Task Forces were directed to formulate comprehensive, holistic and integrated district-level sports activity plan and prepare a calendar for youth engagement programmes and sports activities.The Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division shared their inputs and the action plan they have prepared for engagement of youth in sports and other activities. It was given out that in almost all the districts, various sports and other activities are being carried out and the district sports activity plan which has been prepared keeping in mind all important aspects of youth engagement would be materialized for achieving better results.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma also attended the meeting via video conferencing and briefed about the action plan of Divisional Level Task Force Jammu and initiatives to be taken under the plan.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam asked the Deputy Commissioners to involve police setup in the action plan for its effective implementation and for friendly police public relations. He said that the youth must be given all possible opportunities to participate in the sports activities.While addressing the participants, Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai asked the DCs to ensure that they have prepared measurable action plan involving large number of youth in the activities.He asked for taking up as many as activities in the district encouraging more people to join the sports for better physical and mental health.There are plethora of activities being carried out by Youth Services & Sports at school level and Sports Council on other hand contributing in involving youth in various sports activities, Advisor Ganai said adding that focus should also be laid on creating state of art sports infrastructure and every district should have this kind of facility to attract youth for their involvement and also in opting sports as their career.Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar while discussing the Action Plan of Divisional and District Level Task Forces expressed satisfaction over the strategy that is being chalked out by the Deputy Commissioners for the engagement of youth in sports and other co-curricular activities.

He stressed that to achieve better results, local sportspersons/icons need to be roped in for encouraging or inspiring youth by inviting them as guests in sports activities which have been organized in the district level and by utilizing their services.Regarding development of sports infrastructure, K Vijay Kumar asked the DCs to ensure completion of all ongoing projects in their respective districts at the earliest for which he said adequate resources would be made available.The Advisor also asked for incentivizing the districts performing well in implementation of this programme and also to reward the individuals who show better performance in engaging youth in various activities under the action plan.The meeting stressed on the concept of dovetailing resources of different departments to ensure maximum impact in the field and to overcome the financial constraints.Focus was also laid on involving private clubs for their participation in the events under the action plan and also to keep scope for inclusion of cultural activities, career counselling, personality development programmes.Among others, the meeting was attended by Spl. DG V K Singh, Secretary Youth Services & Sports, Secretary Information, IG BSF, IG CRPF, IGP Kashmir, Director General Youth Services & Sports, State Coordinator NYC, DCs of Kashmir Division excluding DC Bandipora, Kupwara, Leh & Kargil who joined the meeting through video conferencing.
