Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur Sunil Jakhar said that now it is sure that Congress will form the government after next General Election scheduled in 2019 and after assuming office at center Congress will implement welfare schemes for unorganized sector of worker to uplift their socio-economic status in the society. He was speaking at the Congress Bhawan on the occasion of the assuming the charge of office by Mohan Singh, chairman of Punjab Unit of Unorganized workers' Congress here today. On this occasion, the national chairman of the unorganized workers Congress, Mr. Arvind Singh and Punjab in-charge Mehboob Bhatt were also present.Sunil Jakhar recalled the era of previous Congress government in the center and said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had implemented several schemes for the welfare of the laborers. In which MGNREGA was the most important, under which 100 days employment was guaranteed. Many initiatives were also taken for education, health, and social security for the poor. But in 2014, the government of Prime Minister Narinder Modi, who came to power with making the false promises with countrymen, did not properly implement these schemes launched by Congress for the welfare of the poor and started favoring the rich and the industrialists.

Mr. Jakhar said that a poor person can be elected as the Prime Minister and this is the beauty of the democracy of this country. But if such person after assuming any power to do something for the welfare of poor, not performing his/her duty then such person should not has right to continue in the office.  He said that today the people who are in power and wearing suits worth of Rs 4 crores have run away from the solutions of the problems of the poor. He said that, on the other hand, Congress party is still standing with poor people and its national president Mr. Rahul Gandhi is trying hard to solve the problems of poor people, and after 2019 Congress Government will implement more welfare schemes for poor people of this country.Punjab Pradesh Congress Party President while sharing the ongoing efforts of the Congress government in Punjab, said that the process of registration of domestic workers has been started in the state so that schemes could be implemented for their welfare. Similarly, the Punjab Government has increased the amount of pension from 500 to 750 rupees.
