Forest Department Initiates Drive To Distribute Free Saplings To People Under ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’

In a bid to make Jalandhar clean, green and pollution free, the Forest department has started a special drive to distribute free saplings to the people under the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission.Divulging details about the campaign, Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Vikram Singh Kundra, who distributed free saplings from the office of department at Maqsoodan locality today, said that the drive was aimed enhancing green cover in the district. Exhorting the residents of district to play a pivotal role for making it a clean, green and pollution free district, he said that they could order their favourite plant from the nurseries of the department by using ‘i-haryali’ app after downloading it from Google play store in any android phone. Mr. Kundra said that through this app a resident could choose the plant of his choice whether Timber, Ornamental, Medicinal, Fruits or ornamental shrubs from any of the seven plant nurseries in district including Maqsoodan, Bhogpur, Tut Kalan near Nakodar, Kaangana near Malsian, Shahkot and two at Phillaur.Mr. Kundra said that this plantation drive was all the more important as the depleting green cover was a cause of concern for everybody as it poses  a serious hazard to the environment and human health. He said that it was bounden duty of every individual to come forward and plant more and more number of trees to provide ‘green lungs’ to our district in general and city in particular. Soliciting fulsome support of people in this noble cause, Mr. Kundra called upon them plant and upkeep atleast sapling for the sake of their coming generations.On the occasion Forest Range Officer Mr. Davinder Singh was also present.
