Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday ordered the DCs to be more responsive to the needs of the people and more aggressive in their crackdown on drugs and gangsters in Punjab, which scripted history in e-governance today by becoming the first state in the country to have online registration of property related documents. The Chief Minister was interacting with the DCs through a video conference while launching the on-line property document registration system for the district of Amritsar, thus completing the process of bringing the entire state into the ambit of the scheme, designed to ensure smooth, speedy and transparent registration of property documents.A lot of work still needed to be done to eliminate the drugs menace and the problem of gangsters from the state, the Chief Minister said, asking the DCs to show results.Underlining the need to speed up the pace of employment generation, the Chief Minister said the administration was duty-bound to save the future of the youth.Captain Amarinder Singh also directed the DCs to provide all support and back-up, including uninterrupted power supply, for ensuring smooth paddy procurement, while asking them to keep a check on the spread of any crop diseases.

He also asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure water conservation during paddy sowing by encouraging direct seeding of paddy and distribution of subsidized equipment for paddy straw management under the Krishi Vikas Yojana, in order to minimize burning of paddy straw residue in the October 2018 season.During the video conference, the Chief Minister was apprised by the DCs about the status of Drug Abuse Prevention Officers (DAPO) campaign, debt relief to small and marginal farmers, Tandarust Punjab campaign of the Departments of Forests, Environment, Health & Family Welfare and Food Safety, Ghar Ghar Rozgar & setting up District Employment & Entrepreneurs, besides the Mahatma Gandhi Vikas Yojana for identifying the poor and deserving beneficiaries for state schemes. Those present during the video conference included Media Advisor to CM Raveen Thukral, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Home Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, Financial Commissioner Revenue Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary to CM Tejveer Singh and Principal Secretary Finance Anirudh Tiwari.
