DDC Udhampur finalizes Shri Amarnathji Yatra arrangements

Proactive approach and coordinated efforts are requisite for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar said in a meeting of District Officers of various departments which was convened to finalize the adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra at Udhampur town and its outskirts on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Krishan Lal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Subhash Dogra, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Tehsildars, Zonal Education Officers and other officers attended the meeting.Threadbare discussions on various arrangements including provision for drinking water, power supply, medicare, sanitation, temporary latrine facilities, transport, traffic regulation, security and accommodation.The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements being put in place by the district administration en-route Tikri to Chenani for the hassle-free yatra. The meeting observed that transit camps with availability of drinking water, electricity supply and other allied arrangements were established, besides in the event of any emergency, the adequate accommodations were also kept reserved for the yatris for their comfortable halt.

The DDC, after enquiring about the arrangements made by concerned departments, directed different committees constituted to ensure proper arrangements of sanitation, drinking water and power supply well in advance wherever needed.For the purpose, he directed all the concerned officers to personally check the arrangements and report to his office on daily bases during the Yatra days.A Committee was also constituted to ensure the quality and rates of eatables and other essential commodities during the Yatra especially along the National Highway. Besides that Food Safety Officer was also instructed to inspect quality and hygiene of food served in langers during the Yatra days. Enquiring about the establishment of the medical camps, the DDC directed to keep necessary medical facilities at the medical camps and also keep ambulances ready at different points so that they shall be called during any emergency without any delay.In order to avoid any inconvenience to the yatris due to landslide or blockade of National Highway during rainy days, GAMMON was asked to provide the necessary machinery and equipments so that road shall be made traffic worthy. The DSP Traffic was asked to ensure the free flow of traffic during the yatra. In addition to this, ARTO Udhampur was asked to provide the contingency vehicles in case of any emergency.A control room was also established in Emergency Operation Centre of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to keep regular update information regarding the Yatra.
