Authorities on Friday barred Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani from offering Friday prayers in Hazratbal, a spokesman said.According to the statement issued to media, the spokesman said that Geelani was stopped after he defied house arrest restrictions. “The police forces outside his residence did not allow him to venture out to march towards Hazratbal,” he said.Hurriyat said soon as Geelani moved towards Hazratbal Srinagar to offer Friday prayers, he was prevented by a heavy contingent of police from doing so.Lashing at authorities, Geelani said that “Delhi groomed authorities have unleashed a reign of terror against innocent civilians in state.Lashing at state authorities, Geelani in his address said by placing curbs, denying religious obligations and detaining resistance leaders, the government was denying them to stage peaceful protests.
Geelani in his address to people said that the month of Ramadan is one of the most beloved and blessed months in the Islamic calendar. Ramadan is all about asking for forgiveness and peace from the Almighty Allah. Apologize to Him for the past mistakes. He said and added “Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment, Geelani added, saying we should seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and read and recite the Holy Quran along with its meanings.Geelani said Kashmiris will continue with their struggle till freedom is achieved and added that instead of facing resistance leaders on political turf, they are being caged against frivolous charges, he added. He said the sacrifices of youth won’t go waste and nobody will be allowed to play with their sacrifices, saying “we will never surrender or succumb to pressure but will pursue our cherished mission till it is taken to its logical conclusion.Syed Ali Geelani expressed his satisfaction over the overwhelming response from people for Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Alqudus, saying since past 70 years the Palestine and Kashmir issues were neglected.
