Chairman LC reviews progress on works under TSP in Kargil

Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today reviewed the progress on the works under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) in the district at a meeting held at Conference Hall Baroo here today.Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal, Director Tribal Affairs Muhammad Rafi, SE PWD Sarwan Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.Threadbare discussion was held on the progress registered on the schemes under Development of Model Village, SCA as well as the schemes for which funds were released under Article 257(I).The concerned officers informed the meeting that under Education sector the construction of ST Hostel at Degree College at cost of Rs 2 crores 93 lacs is in the completion stages while as work on the construction of Eklavya Model Residential School (ERMS) involving costing Rs 4 crores in full swing adding 2 e-classrooms have been established at Government Higher Secondary School Yurbaltak and Middle School Apatee at a cost of Rs 5.00 lacs.It was given out that out that for infrastructure development under TSP, Rs 48 lacs have been expended for installation of hand pumps besides extension and improvement of existing water supply schemes. 

The officers further informed that 400 units of pre-fabricated polycarbonate sheet greenhouses have been established at cost of Rs 1 crore 87 lacs while as Rs 14 crores and 53 lacs stands expended on establishment of Karakul and Merino Sheep Units in the district.The Chairman while underlining the importance of these projects for the proper benefit of the masses stressed on their timely completion to avoid escalation of time and costs. He directed the officers to personally visit sites and supervise works so that timely completion and work quality of all the pending projects could be maintained.Haji Anayat stressed on the Director Tribal Affairs for timely release of funds for electrification and furnishing work of the ST Hostel in the district well in time so that the hostel could be used for the accommodation facilities students of far-flung areas of the district.The Chairman also urged upon the officers to make concerted efforts to formulate proposals for the establishment of poultry and dairy units, milk societies besides schemes to boost encourage farmers in agriculture and horticulture sectors so that the economy of framers at large is boosted up.The issuance of scholarships to students of Ladakh region studying outside the district, creation of the post of District Officer of Tribal Affairs Department in the district besides several other issues also came up for discussion.
