Minister for School Education, Environment and Freedom Fighters  OP Soni today met the protesting members of All Punjab Anganwadi Mulajam Union and received a memorandum. Anganwadi workers and helpers have staged a protest dharna near the minister’s residence. The memorandum was submitted by Mrs. Hargobind Kaur president of the union. Sh. Soni informed that due to the code of conduct being in place the government is unable to release any of its policies or decisions in any matter however he shall be discussing this matter in cabinet and with Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh who shall be taking the final decision. Anganwadi workers and helpers have demanded remunerations on the pattern of Haryana, return of students between the age of 3-6 to Anaganwadi centres who have been shifted to Government Elementary Schools and government’s intervention in certain other issues. Sh. Soni said that these workers and helper are our own and the ministers have vowed to safeguard the interests of citizens, so this would be his first agenda after the bypoll process ends. Sh. Soni said that Capt. Amarinder Singh has kept health and education on the top of his agenda and any matter related to these departments automatically get his attention. The minister appealed the protesting workers and helpers to lift their dharna and wait for a few days for the government’s intervention into this matter.
