Governor Acharya Devvrat inaugurated the T-20 cricket match played between Chief Minister XI and Press XI at Police Ground Bharari, Shimla, today. The match was organized by the Shimla Sports, Social and Cultural Association. Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur who is the captain of Chief Minister XI was also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that such sports activities not only promote harmony but also helpful in creating love and affection amongst the people. He appreciated the efforts of the association for organizing such events which not only provides opportunities for physical fitness but also go a long way in promoting the spirit of sportsmanship and building the bonds of brotherhood.Acharya Devvrat said that good routine, healthy diet and physical exercise not only help in living a healthy life but also play an important role in bringing positive attitude in ones personality. He emphasized on adopting yoga and sports activities on routine basis for a healthy and stress-free life. He added that positivity dwells in healthy mind whereas negativity invites various diseases.
He hoped that the association would also organize such events throughout the state which would go a long way in promoting sports activities in the state.He also boost up his team members, Governor XI, which lost its match after hard struggle. In a lighter mood, he said, "CM is a good sportsman". He said the recently, Chief Minister had visited Gurukul Kurukshetra, where he went to shooting range and shown his talent and got 10 out of 10 in shooting. Perhaps, due to that reason Governor XI lost the match after many years as he is leading CM XI team." President, Shimla Sports Social and Cultural Association Shri V.D Sharma honoured the Governor by presenting shawl and Himachali cap. Earlier, General Secretary of the Association Dr. Lokinder Sharma welcomed the Governor on the occasion. He also introduced the players of both the teams to the Governor. The Governor also tossed the coin and CM XI won the toss and decided to bat first.The Governor also faced the ball bowled by the Chief Minister. Deputy Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Shri Hans Raj, MLAs, Chief secretary Shri Vineet Chawdhary, Director General of Police Shri S.R. Mardi and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
