Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah Saturday highlighted the need for inculcating interest among the children to speak their mother tongue without any inhibitions. He said that parents should teach children to speak in their mother tongue and take pride in it rather than feeling a diffidence in it. The Secretary Education was speaking at a book release function here today in which he was the chief guest. During the function, a book titled ‘Kayinat Kulhum Halmas Manz’ written by a poet and a teacher with Directorate of School Education, Kashmir Zahid Farooqi was released by Secretary Education.The function was presided over by Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar Syed Humayun Kaisar and was also attended by Director School Education Dr G N Ittoo, Adbee Markaz Kamraz President Farooq Rafiabadi and Vice President Abdul Ahad Hajni.The book release function was organized by Adbee Markaz Kamraz in collaboration with Radio Kashmir Srinagar and Directorate of Information at Auditorium Hall of Directorate of Information.

Secretary Education while addressing the jam-packed audience said that the charity begins from home and that people should first of all at home lay stress on talking to their children in Kashmiri language and this would gradually help restore the glory of the language.He said the School Education Department is time and again trying its best to promote the Kashmiri language at the school level and would also try to introduce Kashmiri as a subject at Higher Secondary level in future.Shah on the occasion announced that the book release functions, seminars and other events related to promotion of language will be allowed free of cost at DSEK auditorium which will be inaugurated next month.Director School Education Dr G N Ittoo said that the DSEK will do its best to provide a platform to the poets for the exchange of ideas and would help all the writers willing to get their books published to play their part in promoting Kashmiri language.Zahid Farooqi, the author of the book ‘Kayinat Kulhum Halmas Manz’ said that he has tried his level best to express his thoughts and imaginations in the book.Humayun Kaisar rued the lack of book reading culture in Kashmir and said that once the book is released, nobody purchases it and added that even those who take it for free too do not read it.He said book reading helps in making a person intellectually strong and diversifies vision.
