Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today asked the teaching fraternity to provide quality education and inculcate moral values in students so that they become responsible citizens of the country.The Minister said this while addressing a large gathering at an annual day function of Shivalik Heights Public School at Gurah Mundian in Hiranagar, here today.Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Ravi Kesar, Director Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing O P Sharma, Director Soil and Water Conservation Javed Iqbal Punjoo, Chief Conservator of Forests Farooq Gillani, Regional Director Wildlife Warden Dr. V S Sinthil Kumar, Regional Director State Pollution Control Board Ch Showkat Ali, Conservator East Circle Kh Qamar-ud-Din, Principal of the School Yog Raj Sharma besides other senior officers of Forests and its allied wings besides staff and parents.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that teachers are the architect who shape the overall personality of the students and give them right direction.The Minister said that the government has taken various initiatives to revive education sector across the State and is upgrading infrastructure in various schools so that students get benefitted. He further said that it is firm commitment of the government to ensure that this vital sector gets a fillip in all aspects as it forms the basis of a strong nation. He exhorted upon the school authorities to make sure that their institution serves as a vibrant center of excellence.“We appreciate the role of private schools and call upon them to adopt underprivileged children of their areas so that those living below the poverty line can also get access to quality education,” Lal Singh stressed.The Minister said the Government has brought reforms to improve the education delivery system as well as opening of opportunities for perusing education, adding that the concept of remedial classes at evening is a step forward in this direction.The students of the school presented colourful cultural program on the occasion.
