Stressing that the youth of border areas have potential to compete at all levels, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary said that there is need to channelize their energy in the right direction by imparting them  skills and trainings.The Minister was speaking at a function organized by the District Administration, Jammu to felicitate the ten best runners in the Cross Country run held at Suchetgarh R S Pura.The event was a calendar event of 7th batch of Centres for Border Youth Training and Empowerment (C-BYTE) programme. The C- BYTE is a flagship Skill Development Programme under BADP which is running at six centres including Arnia, Satowali, Mandel, Jhiri. Pargwal and Garhi villages of district Jammu for imparting skills and trainings to youth for getting recruitment into armed forces. The programme was started on January 1st, 2016 and now the 7th batch of the programme has come to conclusion.

Lauding the efforts of organizers, the Minister called for organizing more such programmes and events for the benefits of youth of the areas. He said that there is no dearth of talented youth and they can shine in any field if they are provided appropriate platform to nourish.  He advised the youth to be disciplined to achieve excellence in life. He also stressed upon them to make best use of the facilities provided at their door steps for improving their skill to get recruitment in the armed forces.The Minister also distributed trophies and certificates among participants of   the cross country.Among others, Assistant Commissioner, Nazool, SDM R S Pura, Chief Planning Officer, DC office Jammu sectoral officers besides trainees from all the centre and large number of locals were present.
