District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today took a detailed review of various development works being executed in the district besides inspecting school buildings, health centers, roads and other works.The DDC met with various deputations in a series of public meetings held during his daylong visit to various areas of Dodason Bala.SDM Thanamandi Afzal Mirza, Executive Engineers Sadeeq Wani, Nisar Khan, Munshi Khan and Zubair Choudhary, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, CEO Lal Hussain, Dy Registrar Cooperatives Waqar Talib, FM DIC Khalil Ur Rehman, Tehsildar Shahid Iqbal, BDO Planger Anwar Choudhary and concerned officers of other development departments accompanied the DDC.

A number of deputations at Tarpai, Fatehpur, Saimgali, Udariyan, Basan, Kundan and Kallar called on the DDC and apprised him of their demands and problems.At Chawatta, the people demanded construction of link road up to MS Chawata, Saimgali-Gahi, Tarpai-Katha and Gahi-Katha Bajadaan roads, missing link to connect Saaj-Basan road to Hayat  Poura, provision of electric poles and hand pumps, establishment of seed center, health sub-center at Chawatta, toilets under SBM, demarcation and fencing of graveyards, foot bridges over rivulets and up-gradation of MS Chawata to high school.At GHS Dodason Bala, issues of urgent nature like up-gradation of GHS Dodason Bala to higher secondary and infrastructure development of the school, completion of last 1 km of Saaj-Basan and Kallar-Jabrian road, blacktopping of Basan-Kaiyan road and connecting it with Soodapani-Sain Walidat road, establishment of Model Islamic School on 200 Kanal of Auqaf Land, construction of road up to Baba Jeevan Shah Shrine, Thalla-Siote and Neerojal-Dodason Payein roads and fencing of graveyard near Baba Jeevan Shah shrine were projected. 

Public also put forth demands for development of tourism infrastructure in the area, plantation drives by horticulture department, holding of awareness and PSGA camps in the area besides asking for early release of compensation in favor of 2014 flood victims and also for land acquired for roads.The DDC inspected GMS Chawatta and Kundan to assess the infrastructural requirements of schools and also interacted with the students.On spot decisions were taken for construction of 2 additional classrooms for GHS Dodason Bala, 2 for GMS Kundan, 1 for GMS Chawatta and 2 for Girls Primary School Payien, repair and renovation of GPS Gahi, 2 smart classrooms each at GHS Dodason Bala and GMS Chawata with computers, specialized software and internet facilities, 100 desks for GMS Chawatta and starting of high classes from next session apart from establishment of Aadhar Center at GHS Dodason Bala and health sub-center at Chawatta and Dodason Payein.As a short term measure to address the scarcity of water in the area, it was decided to install 10 hand pumps at various locations till WSS Chawatta and WSS Dodason Bala are made functional. The Executive Engineer PHE was asked to prepare a DPR for WSS Kallar apart from focused development of reservoirs near hamlets for sustained water supply.Estimates were also sought from the concerned BDO for construction of link roads at Navni-GMS Chawatta, Takiya-Baba Jeevan Shah Shrine and Basan-Kaiyan.

Tehsildar and BDO were also directed to demarcate and fence the graveyards at Chawatta, Kallar and Baba Jeevan Shah Shrine within a week time.

Executive Engineer R&B was asked to ensure timely completion of Saaj-Basan and Katha Bajaraan-Gahi roads besides finalizing survey for Katha-Tarpai road as per aspirations of the public.Regarding development of tourism infrastructure, the DDC informed that a team of officers of concerned department will be deputed to assess the tourism potential of the area and devise a comprehensive plan for infrastructure development in a phased manner.  He also said that feasibility reports for Post Office at Chawatta and J&K Bank Branch at Dodason will be submitted to central government and RBI respectively with recommendation from district administration.Directing SDM Thana Mandi to organize PSGA Camp at Dodason, Dr. Shahid Informed that in last 6 months the district administration has conducted more than 200 such camps where up to 80000 services were provided at the doorsteps including certificates of various natures by revenue and health department, free health checkups and on spot grievance redressal.

He also directed District Social Welfare Officer to organize a mega awareness camp in coordination with other departments to spread information about government’s developmental, social security and employment related schemes.
