Soon after the session started, the lower house of the J&K Assembly on Thursday witnessed noisy scenes over the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu region.According to GNS correspondent, soon after the assembly session started, the legislators Mian Altaf, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Vikar Rasool, Altaf Kaloo of the opposition NC and Congress and also only an MLA from ruling PDP Choudhary Qamar Hussain stood up and demanded strict action against the culprits.“The incident happened on January 10 and the body of the minor girl was found after eight days, which clearly shows that police have not taken the matter seriously,” the legislators said. They demanded suspension of the concerned SHO. “Is this the government’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”?The legislators staged walkout over the issue. In the meantime, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the house that police has registered a case under FIR No. 10/2018 under section 363 RPC with regard to the incident. He further informed the house that after conducting all the legal formalities the body of the deceased Asifa Bano was handed over to her relatives for last rites. However, replying on behalf of government, Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri said, “A special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the SDPO Border, Kathua has been constituted and investigation to nab the culprits has been launched.” (GNS)
