Minister of State for Housing and Urban development Asiea Naqash, while replying to a question of Mohammad Khursheed Alam, informed that Union Government has released Rs 2 crore for preparation of Smart Cities proposals for twin capital cities of the State. She said that Rs 1.60 crore has been expended so far.The Minister informed that the Master Plan for Jammu city has been approved by the State Cabinet while as draft Master Plan for Srinagar city 2035 has been prepared and would be finalized after the scrutiny of objections and suggestions received from the stakeholders by the Committee constituted for the purpose.
Meanwhile Asiea Naqash further informed that the Government has prepared a project of Rs 6.44 crore for formulation of GIS based Master Plans under AMRUT for the twin capital cities of the State adding that Rs 2 .02 crore and Rs 1.48 crore would be utilized for Srinagar and Jammu cities respectively. “The GIS based Master Plans under AMRUT for Srinagar and Jammu cities has been approved by the State Level Technical and State Level Power Steering Committees and stands submitted to the concerned quarter for approval and arrangements of funds,” she informed.
