Minister of State for Forest, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mir Zahoor Ahmad today said that the government would provide adequate compensation to the Mission Saffron beneficiaries whose current crop was damaged due to drought.The   Minister was interacting with a delegation of Saffron Growers   from Pampore area who met him here today.The delegation apprised him about the damage caused to their Saffron crop due to drought.The delegation said that the saffron is cultivated over an area of 1550 Kanal of land under Saffron Mission and 9916 beneficiaries are being covered under it. It also informed the Minister that due to drought this year the crop was badly damaged.The Minister said that he has already taken up the matter with the Finance Minister, Dr A Haseeb Drabu for early compensation in favour of the Saffron Mission beneficiaries. Mir Zahoor said that the Finance Minister has assured that the compensation would be given to them.
