District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Younus Malik today chaired a meeting of District Level Task to review the preparations for Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme in the district.The DDC stressed on the officers of the Health, ICDS, and Education Departments to make the immunization programme a success and leave no stone unturned to ensure that all the children below five years-of-age are fully immunized in the district.He asked the officers to mobilize their men and machinery and make the vaccination teams robust to make the district polio-free. He also directed the officers to involve the civil society members, village level committees and prayer leaders to make the programme a success.The CMO Anantnag apprised the meeting about the comprehensive strategy and a joint action plan to be adopted during the first round which will commence on January 28. Around 136014 children in the age group of 0-5 will be immunized in 641 vaccination booths that will be established in the district during the campaign.

For successful conduct of the programme, 2536 team members including 784 ASHA workers and 438 Anganwadi workers and 129 supervisors from health department will be deployed. Besides 14 transit booths will also be set up in the district.The DDC directed the CMO Anantnag to organize awareness campaigns using print and electronic media to sensitize maximum population of the district about Pulse Polio Campaign. He further directed the officers of the health department to conduct door-to-door campaigns in every block of the district so that every child below the age of 5 years is immunized in the first phase of the immunization programme.Among others, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, I/C CEO, IPPI Nodal officer, District Programme officer ICDS and all BMOs attended the meeting.
