Govt committed to augment drinking water in every part of JK : Sham Lal Choudhry

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhry has said that the Government is committed to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the people of the State. He said in this regard several initiatives have been taken to augment the basic infrastructure with modern facilities adding that sufficient funds have also been earmarked for various ongoing developmental projects under PHE sector.The Minister was interacting with the people at village Chakroi in R S Pura area here today. He said the Government is committed to upgrade the living standard of the people of all weaker sections of the society. He said numerous welfare Centre and State Government schemes including flagship programmes have been launched in the State but need of the hour is to utilize these on ground. He appealed the people to come forward and take advantage of these schemes.Reiterating the announcement of the Government for conducting Panchayat elections in the State, the Minister said that the people are the main source of power and in a democratic set up leadership lives in the hands of people and every decision has to be taken as per the aspirations of the people.He said it was the goal of the present dispensation to transfer powers to Panchayat.  Sham asked the people to take actively part in these elections.Referring to the developmental works under execution in the R S Pura area, Sham Choudhry said that the construction on various micro and macro developmental projects are apace in the area and on completion of these schemes it will change socio-economic conditions of the people of the area.Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the Government. He said the Centre Government is providing liberal funding for the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Centre Government is keen to improve the socio-economic condition of the people of the State especially the people living in boarder areas.Member Legislative Council, Vikram Randhawa in his address threw light on the successful achievements of the present Government.
