Govt preparing action plan to deal with climatic health hazards : Bali Bhagat

Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today said the government is preparing a detailed action plan under health sector to deal with the health problems due to climate/environmental change as anticipated by WHO.Replying to a question raised by MLC Girdhari Lal Raina, the Minister said the government is aware of the fact that climate change results in diseases like Malaria, Pneumonia, diarrheal diseases and chest infection etc. WHO has also highlighted particular health vulnerabilities related to water borne infections, air pollution, malnutrition and vector borne diseases, he added.He further informed that the department is regularly conducting health education sessions in Govt Medical Colleges and its associated hospitals which include safe drinking water, appropriate disposal of human and animal wastes and personal hygiene.He said the Jammu and Kashmir also participated in North Zone Consultation Committee meeting held in September, 2017 in New Delhi. MLCs Ajat Shatru Singh and Firdous Ahmad Tak also raised supplementary questions.
