DC Pulwama joins Annual Day function at GMS Kakapora

The Government Boys Middle School, Kakapora organized a colorful function to mark its annual day. District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.The function was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Showkat Ahmad Rather, Joint Director Planning, Tehsildar Kakapora Sheikh Jaffar, ZEO Kakapora, Teachers and huge gathering of students.The event in this rural school of Pulwama district began with the recitation of Quranic verses and seeking blessings of Allah.Seeing the spectacular performances of the young kids, the audiences including Chief Guest, dignitaries and parents remained glued to their seats till the culmination of the event here inside the school premises.Enrobing colorful dresses, the students enthralled the audience by their participation in different programs. The event revolved around the songs, skid and story narrations having morals in relevance with the present era.

During the function, the Students presented a skit on the theme of ‘Cigarette Smoking & its Health Effects.’ The message they wanted to convey was that smoking is very injurious to health and is leading cause of many types of cancers by virtue of the presence of hundreds of carcinogens in it and should be done away with. Encouraged by the thundering applause, kids made their performance lively. The continuous guidance of the concerned teachers on the stage made the students to perform meticulously.Eight performances including, prayer song, group song, solo song, Naat-e-Kalam, Kashmiri Rouf and other programmes were presented by the students on the stage.In his address, DDC Pulwama who was the chief guest at the occasion complemented the school management for preparing the young kids to perform such ‘mesmerizing and scintillating performances.’ He asked the teachers to play their role as real architects of society and be true to their profession.

Speaking on the occasion DDC highlighted the importance of education. He said that basic aim of education is to help each individual to nurture their own potential and education when imbibed with values, right attitudes and behavior can transform an individual. He further said that education opens gateway to brilliant career opportunities and fetches better prospects in career and growth. DDC said that parents and teachers are the first role models for the children.On the occasion, DDC announced a token money of Rs 10,000 to Ishrat Jan resident of Doogam on securing First position in the cluster zone in 7th class. DDC also announced Rs One lakh will be given each meritorious student who will secure Ist, second & 3rd Position in the 10th and 12th exams from the District.DDC also announced RS 5 lakh as token money for the overall upgradation of the school.
