Expressing concern over the stoppage of OFC laying work along the National Highway 1 from Drass to Kargil, Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, today exhorted upon the officers of Vijayak and Vindhya Telelinks Limited (VTL) to sort out their issues in earnest and restart the work.The Chairman stated this while chairing a meeting convened to review the pace of OFC cable laying work over the road stretch from Gumri to Leh.Underlining the importance of the private telecom companies starting their mobile services in the region, the Chairman expressed hope that steps in this regard would go a long way in resolving the issues of poor service quality, connectivity and non-functioning of broadband.

The Chairman directed the General Manager Vindhya Telelinks Limited to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the smooth moment of vehicles from Drass to Kargil due to the laying of OFC. He directed that the company shall carry out the restoration work vis-a-vis the laying of cables.It was decided in the meeting that Vindhya Telelinks Limited shall submit a Bank Guarantee Bond of Rs. 6 crore to Vijayak as a security deposit, the validity of which shall extend for a period of one year from the date of issuance and the company would re-start the work after obtaining permission from Vijayak after the submission of the bond.Unanimous decision was taken with regard to Vijayak serving demand notes to Vidhya Telelinks Limited on account of damage done to the road, culvert and other infrastructure pertaining to Vijayak besides the term of restoration to be extended for a period of one year in line with the term of BG bond.Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Haji Gulzar Hussain, Chief Engineer, Project Vijayak, S.K Doon, Commander, 762 BRTF Col Rajeev Lohari, General Manager, Vindhya Telelinks Limited Arvinder Pal Singh among other officers were present in the meeting.
