To mark “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week- The Daughters of New India” celebration a painting competition was held here today at Kids Heaven Convent Hr. Sec. School.The painting competition was organized by the District Information Centre (DIC) in association with Kathua Private School Association. The week is being celebrated from October 9 – October 14 to promote empowerment of girls and reinforce gender equality.In all 15 students of recognized private schools of Kathua participated in the competition and expressed their views through the medium of colors. The competition received overwhelming response from participating students of various schools.
The motive behind this competition was to encourage the young students to showcase their talent and depict the current happenings through their artwork.Speaking on the occasion, DIO Angrej Singh said series of activities are being held across the district to spread the message of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. He said competitions will be organised in urban as well as rural areas to provide platform to raise issues, concerns and challenges faced by girls. He said the BBBP Week is being celebrated across the country to influence national discourse in favour of girls and women and visibility of BBBP- the flagship programmes of Government of India.Certificates and prizes were also distributed among the winners and the participants. Also present on the occasion were, Officials of District Information Centre, members of private school association, staff, students and management of Kids Heaven Convent Hr. Sec. School.
