Chief Secretary V.C. Pharka takes stock of arrangements for Vidhan Sabha Elections

Chief Secretary  V.C. Pharka presided over the meeting of Nodal Officers, here today to review the poll preparedness for ensuing elections to the State Legislative Assembly. He reviewed the progress of various departments including Education, Health, Irrigation & Public Health, Public Works, Information & Public Relations, Transport, Police, Excise & Taxation, Income Tax, National Informatics, Information & Technology, Telecommunication services, Postal Services and Rural Development which was presented through power point presentation.Shri Pharka stressed upon the need to fully equip every polling booth of the State with necessary infrastructure and amenities. He asked Education and Welfare Departments for provision of ramps and wheel chairs to facilitate the persons with special abilities so that they could cast their votes with convenience. He also asked to engage two volunteers at each booth to facilitate the voters in exercising their franchise.It was briefed in the meeting that postal ballet papers for Vidhan Sabha Elections-2017 will be transmitted electronically.

V.C. Pharka asked the concerned authorities to effectively launch Systematic Voters Education and Electorate Participation (SVEEP) upto last corner in the State.The Chief Secretary directed for deployment of adequate manpower in critical and vulnerable polling stations so as to ensure free and fair elections. He asked the police department for timely arrangement of required force including Home Guards and para military and I&PH Department to ensure smooth supply of drinking water in all polling stations and State Electricity Board to  provide uninterrupted electricity specially during poll timing. Telecommunication Department was asked for unintrrupted signal in all areas of the State.He directed that vulnerable and sensitive points of state should be equipped with CCTV cameras and strict vigil be made on border areas, for which necessary force should come to action forthwith.Chief Electroral Officer Shri Pushpender Rajput conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
